A Vision for Progress
Building a Stronger Manufacturing Community
Industry 4 is revolutionising the way companies manufacture, improve and distribute their products. Nearly £1m of funding from UK Government has been secured as part of the Local Skills Improvement Fund to launch a new partnership between colleges and universities, the Chamber of Commerce and some of the Kent and Medway’s leading employers to tackle critical skills gaps in the manufacturing sector. This funding includes over £800k for state-of-the-art Smart Factory technology.
The aims are to:

Establish the physical infrastructure for factory automation skills training with an investment in a fully networked suite of factory automation training simulators.

Modernise the Engineering & Manufacturing curriculum and develop a range of short, modular courses to train the workforce.

Increase the number of expert technical tutors and trainers who can deliver industry standard higher-level training.

Develop lasting employer partnerships and employer leadership of education and skills.
